All Belly Dance Lessons with teacher & Professional Performer, Electra(or Elaine if you prefer!).

Come along & learn the foundations moves & beyond of the Art of Bellydance.

I am qualified in anatomy & physiology and will tell you each muscle you need to use & how bellydance moves will trim, tone & strengthen your body - you are also likely to have fun - all whilst learning this beautiful form of dance.

The classes are usually based on Cabaret Style Bellydance, but you will also explore other styles too including Egyptian Oriental, North African and American Tribal Style. I teach the basics of Middle Eastern rhythms & how to dance to them. In my class you will learn how to improvise, as well as learning choreography & combinations.

We will be using bodyshaping & flexibility techniques to keep fit & improve our dance ability.

We are very lucky to have Wade drumming for us should we need him or by special request - there's nothing quite like dancing to live music & drumming.

I have been teaching bellydance in Dagenham & Ilford for some years now and new daytime classes in Dagenham and one in Barking began in January 2009 ( both of which are for complete beginners).  Look for updates here and in the blog/news section.

Belly dancing: the sacred art

If you longed for a physical fitness, regime that would be more fun than push-ups and sit-ups, more gentle on the body than running, and more accessible and inviting to you right now in the shape you are in than--say--going to a health-club full of already pumped up and slimmed down bodies, don't despair: there is an option for you. Bellydance is an incredibly fun and surprisingly intensive workout, engaging core muscles while encouraging whole-body strength and flexibility. As bellydance is essentially creative and non-competetive, it allows for personal style and embellishment, making it very accessible to people of all ages, sizes, and health conditions. The objective in the dance is to internalize the music you are moving with and let that unfold through articulated movements in whatever way feels most satisfying to you, the dancer. It's not about pain: it's about pleasure. If something gives us pleasure we will tend to do it more often; if that something happens to be a good workout disguised as a good time, surely the results over time will be improved health and vigor!
